Zain Jaffer, Partner at Blue Field Capital
Zain Jaffer sits on the investment committee for all real estate acquisitions and venture capital investments.
Zain was previously a technology entrepreneur who founded his first start-up at the age of 14 and sold his last company to Blackstone in all-cash acquisition for $780M. After his succesful exit, Mr. Jaffer began investing in real estate through his family office at Zain Ventures where he focused on construction loans, single-family rentals, and multifamily apartments. In addition to hands-on real estate projects, Zain Ventures also served as a joint venture partner or LP in 20+ real estate deals.
Through his famliy office actvities and direct fund investments, Zain became an LP in some of Blue Field Capital where he continued to build a relationship as an investor. After spending time with the team and realizing mutually shared values and an alignment in vision, Zain decided to join forces and become part of the team at Blue Field Capital.
Zain has been involved in all aspects of real estate acquisition, development and financing at Blue Field. He is primarily focused on the venture capital fund, which he started in 2020, after realizing that COVID would accelerate opportunities for technology to be utilized in the real estate industry. The VC fund invests in early-stage PropTech start-ups across the globe that are disrupting the sector. As part of his role with the venture capital fund, Zain sits on the Board of Directors for startups including Canopy Analytics, and Basking Automation.
Zain’s interest in PropTech led him to start PropTechVC which has become a popular podcast and newsletter with 10,000+ subscribers. Zain is a contributor to real estate publications and has his own column on Entrepreneur.com, Forbes, Fast Company, CoinTelepgraph and NewsWeek. Zain also delivers keynotes and sits on industry panels where he discusses technology related themes.
Outside of his involvement with real estate and technology, Zain runs his own private foundation, the Zain Jaffer Foundation, which produces Asia-focused climate change documentaries and funds the development of water wells throughout Africa.
Zain Jaffer holds a Master Degree in Technology Entrepreneurship from University College London, and a Bachelor Degree in Business Management from King’s College London.
